The Union comprises 72 folklore groups and associations from all over Slovenia and 6 festivals (among them also the CIOFF festival Folkart International Folklore Festival, Maribor and the Mediterranean International Folklore Festival (MIFF)).
In view of the decreased interest of the youth in folklore traditions and aware of their significance for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, the Union has formed in the beginning of 2011 the Youth Working Group whose experiences, ideas, and innovations can contribute to the expansion of folklore activities.
A Bulletin is available four times a year on the Union's website in the electronic form, while the site's section Groups on Tour is intended to reports from different (inter)national folklore festivals (both in Slovenian only).
The Union of Slovene Folklore Groups is a member of the International Council for Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF).
