The festival has featured folkloric groups from Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Portugal, Malta, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, France, Turkey, Hungary, Spain, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Canada, etc. MIFF is included in the official festival calendar of CIOFF – the International Council of Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts.
