International awards
As soon as the University of Maribor was established in 1975 the choir became mixed, and under the name Maribor Academic Choir went on to win some of the most prestigious prizes at home and abroad, including the gold medal at competitions in Cork, Ireland (1986), in Pardubice, Czech Republic (1995), at the Naša pesem Choir Competition (1997) and at International Bohuslav Martinů Festival and Choir Competition in Chech Republic (1999) and at the International Choir Competition in Jersey (2004).
More recently it received first prizes in Festival Internacional de Música de Cantonigròs (2006) in women choir category and in Slovakia Cantat (2009).
