It was originally established in July [[established::2009]] on the initiative of the [[Art Society of Celje]]. Ever since they work connected in the field of cultural production and postproduction. The primary purpose of the institute is to establish comprehensive co-production projects in Celje, in which it wants to strenghten cultural outfit and position of Celje in the Slovenian and European cultural space. [[House of Culture Celje]] is a founding member of the [[Regional cultural formation Triangel]] and a member of [[Asociacija]], the Association of Arts and Culture NGOs and Freelancers in Slovenia. The institute is involved in many national and international projects, among them, as an example, it is a partner of [[Jumum]], which strives to gain recognition of music genre operetta. House of Culture Celje is one of the most active non-governmental art producers in the region and in the country.

[[Art Society of Celje]] is voluntary organization, established in [[established::2002]], which combines lovers of art and members, who take active part in art either professional or unprofessional. Before founding the House of Culture Celje, which is still strongly connected to the [[Art Society of Celje]], the biggest achievements are musical-theatrical productions: Musical Beauty and the Beast in the year 2006/2007 and opera The Noblemen of Teharje ([[Teharski plemiči]] in Slovene), written by [[Benjamin Ipavec]]. The last one represents the highlight. It is the first towns operatic production and it  was awarded the bronze coat – of - arms of Celje.
 
 
A great amount of productions are ment for promotion of creativity among the young. In the creative and pedagogical sense, society prepares every year singing masterclasses under the famous Croation soprano Vlatka Oršanić. The school of musical with Slovene baritone [[Boštjan Korošec]] also takes place every year.
 
 
In autumn 2007 the society has prepared probably the most important international collaboration with the London Royal College of Art. Postgraduate students and professors of college prepared the successful project called »Cultured Vandals«.

[[Anton Schwab choir]] (named after the Slovene doctor and composer[[Anton Schwab]]) is a project vocal choir, established in [[established::2009]]. It unites singers, mainly students, who have a strong passion after singing. Undoubtely, the most important achievement of the choir is the second place with special praise (excellent avec distinction) on well founded 47th international competition Montreaux 2011. [[Alenka Goršič Ernst]] successfuly conducts the choir.
 
 
[[The house of Celje's Orchestra]] unites professional musicians and talented highschool and university students from Celje and its vicinity. It has permanent members who are accompanied by guest musicians when needed. The artistic leader and conductor of Orchestra is [[Simon Dvoršak]]. The Orchestra also cooperates with local and foreign soloists, such as: [[Andreja Zakonjšek Krt]], [[Matjaž Stopinšek]], [[Barbara Jernejčič Fürst]], [[Janko Volčanšek]], Ebony Buckle, Ney Rosauro, [[STOP]] and so on. Its repertoire consists of Baroque and musical periods later on and prepares 3 – 4 projects a year.
 
One of the most important projects of choir and orchestra of House of culture Celje was a festival concert, held at the death anniversaries of two greatest names of classical music, the composers Georg Friederic Handl and Joseph Haydn. They performed parts from oratorios Messiah and The Seasons.
 
 
Beside the orchestra and choir there are also two smaller ensembles that are part of the institute’s activity - Tango [[Quintet Gamma]] and a male [[Vocal quintet, House of Culture Celje]].
