CrossConversationCut also known as Zavod Automata was a production platform and artistic duo established in November 2001 to produce collaborative projects by Zvonka Simčič and Tanja Vujinović as well as projects of other artists and groups (video production, performance, digital photography, installations and sound projects). In 2006 the platform was divided into two units, EXSTAT (Ultramono) run by Tanja Vujinović in collaboration with Jan Kušej and CCC (CrossCommunityCreation) run by Zvonka Simčič.

Projects

The Automata artists realized a number of projects, particularly in the context of video art, digital photography, video and sound installations and Internet multimedia installation. Their work is often thematically linked with research of human body and physicality, especially representations of disciplined bodies (project Dinamo, for instance) and social manifestations of sexuality. They are also dealing with the world of mass media, disclosure of ideologisation, social conventions and in the narrations of Western culture. Some of their most important projects are Hardbody (2003) which combines various media and content, series Plasma (2003) - perfume art project constructed from elements of fashion and glamor of material that documents the media scandals, documentary style digital photographs Allergies and others.

Exhibitions

Their work has been presented on several exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, for example within Euroscreen21 staged in Germany, Poland, Bulgaria and Italy. They participated on Internet Biennial in Istanbul, Liverpool's free arts Festival, Manifesta 4, VIDARTE 2002, Diagonale Film Festival Ctheory Multimedia's NetNoise, Zero Visibility and exhibited their work in Free Gallery in Glasgow, Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana etc. Automata initiated Public, a project focused on presentation of artworks on public spaces in 2004. Tanja Vujinović and Zvonka Simčič were part of curatorial course organized by the School for Contemporary Arts, SCCA-Ljubljana Centre for Contemporary Arts in 2005 curating the exhibition Pretty Dirty.

Publishing

CrossConversationCut published a book Collaborative works by Tanja Vujinović, Zvonka Simčič, Jan Kušej and Dunja Kukovec in 2004.

Ultramono (Exstat)

Exstat is a not-for-profit media art production organization, officially known as Ultramono (founded in 2003), platform for Tanja Vujinović's projects: Discreet Events and Noisy Domains. Ultramono is the framework for ongoing projects that provoke, affect, or isolate specific data-bending processes. The works are often interactive. Extagram (2007), Supermono (2008), Blipstat (2009), Oscilorama (2009), Pulpa (2010), Oskop (2011) etc. were produced by Ultramono. Within these projects Tanja Vujinović creates in the fields of audio, video, web art and robotics. She uses various software applications and textiles to create toy-like objects. Information about projects are published by Ultramono in a form of booklets, books, catalogues or CDs/DVDs. A full color book Ultramono was published in 2011 and is available by request.

CrossCommunityCreation

CrossCommunityCreation or CCC is an institute for multimedia art and social research run by Zvonka T Simčič. The institute aims to connect contemporary artists and produce projects such as Zvonka T Simčič's performance New Allegories, Second Dynamics - installation and performance and ad utero, ab ovo (2007) – a project referring to the author's personal experience – becoming a mother by artificial insemination. The project was used as a basis for the performance Festivity - Emptiness "PrazNIČnost" by Zvonka T Simčič and Franc Cegnar presented on the exhibition Re-production in Sofia Arsenal - Musem for Contemporary art in 2011.

CCC's video production also includes the Obsession (2008) Naked Freedom (2010) and Decoloniality (2011) by Marina Grzinić and Aina Šmid. The videos have been presented on many important exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad. For example, the Naked Freedom conceptualizes the possibility of social change under the conditions of financial capitalism and has been presented at the City of Women International Festival of Contemporary Arts, at Performa Festival in Kunstraum NIEDEROESTERREICH (Vienna), Calvat 22 Gallery (London) etc.

Sound plays an important part in the production of CCC including the Uluru Ensemble, an ethnic experimental ensemble (established in 1998) that participated at The City of Women International Festival of Contemporary Arts in 2007. CCC also co-produces an interactive audio visual installation in an urban area Putting into Sound. The project has a form of a special concert connecting nature, visitors and artists, including Zvonka T Simčič, Borut Savski, Franc Cegnar, Miha Tomšič, Katarina Živec Kovač, Ksenja Jus and others. Since 2009 Putting into Sound has been upgraded and presented every year in park Lipnik (Ljubljana Castle) and at Zbilje lake.
