In 1946 the collections of two smaller libraries dating back to the early 20th century were brought together to form the Logatec Library. Today it functions as a cultural and information centre in the Logatec municipality, with branches in Rovte, Hotedršica, and Vrh Sv. Treh Kraljev. The library maintains a local collection department, which preserves various material and documents on the region. Members can use the reading room as well as computer terminals. The library hosts a spectrum of events: children can take part in story-telling hours and creative workshops, whereas literary evenings, author meetings, book clubs, lectures, exhibitions, and courses in using the library’s services and information resources cater for adult library-goers. As part of the activities, librarians pay visits to the local nursing home to read to visually-impaired users, thus connecting them with the available resources.

The first professional staff member was employed only in 1982. Up to 1987 the library was housed at National House, then it moved into newly-built premises adjacent to this building. In the period 1990-1995 the library was part of [[Municipality of Logatec]], but since 1995 it has been an autonomous public institution. Since 1996 library stock has been searchable via the [[COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library]] system. The library comprises 556 square metres of space with 25 seats in the reading room. It offers Internet access to visitors and is an important IT centre for the region. Logatec Library also has branches in Ravne, Hotedrščica and Vrh sv Treh Kraljev. Its registered readership is 2,815 (25 per cent of population) and its collection comprises more than 53,000 items.
