The [[Slovene Association of Journalists]] was founded in 1905 and has since undergone many organisational changes. The criteria for membership are stated in Articles of the Association. The Association aims to develop a standard quality of information in the public realm, to support independence and engagement of journalists and media, to maintain ethics around freedom of speech within a framework of human rights and civil society, to protect professional journalism and the status of journalists and to co-operate with journalist organisations both at home and abroad. Since the promulgation of the new Mass Media Law in 2001 the Association has concentrated on defending and improving the status of journalism and journalistic space together with its constituent elements. | The [[Slovene Association of Journalists]] was founded in 1905 and has since undergone many organisational changes.
