− | In 1980 a group of intellectuals wrote a manifesto which criticised the periodicals of that time. Two years later they published the first issue of the new journal, intended as a persistent voice of intellectual scepticism and freedom. The now legendary 57th issue of ''[[Nova revija Journal]]'' in 1987 featured the article ''Contributions to the Slovene National Programme'' which addressed the crucial question of how Slovene civil society and its political state should be organised within the framework of a democratic republic. Up to 2007 a total of 290 issues of ''Nova revija'' have featured 30,000 pages a variety of high-quality writing by Slovene as well as international writers, publicists and translators. The journal presents contemporary poetry, prose and essays, translations, philosophical texts, sociological and theological studies and interviews, while the Forum supplement is dedicated to current local and international issues.
