The Social Activities Department of Laško Municipality is reponsible for social and health care, education and sports as well as for public culture and cultural heritage preservation. The local branch of the Union of Cultural Societies of Slovenia (ZKDS) unites 25 cultural associations, among them two folklore groups and two brass bands. The local unit of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD) also facilitates the activities of local cultural organisations and acts as mediator in respect of state and municipal funding.
