The Foundation has a Board of seven members which meets at least twice a year, usually in March and October. Applications for funding should include the title of the book, name of the author, name of the translator, length in pages, number of copies and the planned date of publication. Publishers should also prepare a financial estimate of all costs associated with publication, including copyright, royalties, layout, paper, printing, binding. The application should be accompanied by the publisher’s latest catalogue. Updated information and an application form are available at the website.

The Trubar Foundation is administered jointly by the Slovene Writers’ Association, the Slovene PEN Centre and the Centre for Slovene Literature with the aim of providing subsidy to encourage foreign publishers to publish translations of works of fiction, poetry, drama or literary essays by Slovene authors. The financial means for its activities are provided by the Ministry of Culture and by other sources. The Trubar Foundation contributes up to 50 per cent of printing costs, but it does not subsidise translation - translators can apply directly to the Ministry of Culture for translation grants.
