Organised as a joint enterprise on video art by the Kolektiva Institute and the Photon Gallery, the Video in Progress Festival started in 2008 as systematically curated exhibitions. However, the 2011 edition of Video in Progress was set up more ambitiously and as a proper festival, involving not only video screenings but also video exhibitions, discussions, cinema screenings and other events.

In 2014 the festival merged with the Photonic Moments – Month of Photography festival.

Programme

For example, one of the festival editions included solo exhibitions of Joshua & Zachary Sandler (US) and Aldo Giannotti (IT/AT) in Photon Gallery, the group exhibition Pain with the Thousand Teeth: Presence of Pain and Inadequacy in Video Works of Young Slovenian Artists in Vžigalica Gallery, and a cinema screening of Pain (a selection of videos from the Human Frames programme) in Kinodvor Cinema. It was curated by Metka Zupanič, Vesna Bukovec, Silke Schmickl (DE/FR), Masayo Kajimura (JP/DE), and Stéphane Gérard (FR).
