Kino Udarnik Maribor is housed in a 1930s building which was originally designed as the elite Maribor city cinema hall. It presents the last old city cinema hall in which it is possible to project 35mm films with a screen ratio of 11m x 5m.

The cinema was a member of the Artkino mreža, which distributed selected high-quality films around Slovenia, however it was closed for some years, when it was one of the venues of the DokMa International Film Festival.

In May 2010 Kino Udarnik was reopened as a regular cinema hall.
