Slovenski jezik [Slovene Linguistic Studies], a biennial joint publication of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language and Hall Center for the Humanities at the University of Kansas devoted to linguistics, is specifically concerned with problems connected with the Slovenian language. It features contributions in several languages and has an international authorship. The periodical strives to contribute to the development of high-quality research on Slovene and to serve as a forum for the dissemination of ideas and research by investigators with various theoretical viewpoints, from different schools of thought, as well as cultural backgrounds.

Since 2005 all issues (including the first one published in 1997) are available also online and its abstracts are systematically listed in Slovene and international databases (LLBA, MLA, etc.). The Slavic Languages (Cambridge Language Survey) by Sussex and Cubberley notes the journal as an "authoritative national language" one.
