The Society for Theoretical Psychoanalysis, with a tongue-in-cheek slogan 'With us you don't have to enjoy', is an organisation established in 1983 and based in Ljubljana. Its objective is to work on conceptual development of psychoanalytical theory in relation to philosophy. Its engagement in contemporary critical theory, ethics, structuralism and philosophy is closely related to the Slovene Lacanian School, some texts of which have been translated into English and German, including Everything you Always Wanted to Know about Lacan (edited by Slavoj Žižek and published in 1994 by Verso, London ). It was this same group which established the so-called 'Ljubljana Film School'.

Publishing

The Society has published the psychoanalytical and cultural studies Problemi Journal since 1962. In 1985 it launched the Analecta book series which now comprises more than 60 publications. These are translations of theories (Spinoza, Hume, Hegel, Kant, Derrida, Lyotard, Badiou, Lacan, Foucault, Freud etc.) with thorough commentaries as well as texts by the leading Slovene theoreticians in the field. Most of its publications are available on the website in the online bookshop.
