Some of the fields of research at the institute are a part of the educational programmes of the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, the University of Primorska, and the Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (ISH) – the Ljubljana Graduate School of the Humanities.
The Institute of Philosophy's researchers lecture on ethics at the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, on aesthetics at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska, on the history and theory of historiography at the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor, and on the epistemology of the humanities at the Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (ISH).
Current projects of the institute include the project entitled Artistic Practices of the Twentieth and the Twenty-First Centuries and the Political.
The institute publishes Filozofski vestnik (Acta philosophica) and since 1999 it publishes the Philosophica book collection in three series, Classica, Moderna, and Prizma. The monograph Mali slovar azijskih filozofij [The Little Dictionary of Asian Philosophies] (2003) by Maja Milčinski is available online in pdf format.
The institute's library is a part of the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU) Library and its bibliographic data base is available at the COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library.
