The predecessor of Radio Koper was established in 1949 as Radio of Yugoslav zone of Trieste. Originally it was broadcasted in Slovene, Croatian and Italian. After 1954 it became a part of Radio Ljubljana (today's Radio Slovenia) and transmission was broadcasted in Italian and Slovene only.

It also features numerous cultural programmes, including Spazio attualita' cultura - Oddaja o kulturi which focuses on current cultural events.
