The Brumen Foundation is an independent, non-profit institution, organised to improve the quality of visual design in Slovenia and promote it internationally. The work of the Foundation focuses on organising the Biennial of Slovene Visual Communication along with the International Design Event. Several other exhibitions and discussion are organized by the Foundation each year in order to present good practices and establish criteria of excellence in visual communications design.


History

Named after Slovene architect Jože Brumen (1930-2000), a pioneer in modern design and a professor at the Department of Design, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, the Brumen Foundation was established in February 2003 by six designers: Petra Černe Oven, Radovan Jenko, Žare Kerin, Matevž Medja, Ranko Novak and Peter Skalar.

Significant achievements of the Foundation are Exhibition of Croatian graphic design 040506, exhibition of the Type Directors Club from New York TDC52, exhibition of members of the Art Directors Club of Bosnia and Herzegovina ADC BiH and overview exhibition of contempory design in the Czech Republic and Slovakia e-a-t.
