Annales Journal
Background
Its founder and original publisher was from 1991 on, when issued for the first time, the History Society of the Primorska - Koper Region. In 1994 Science and Research Centre of Koper (SRC Koper) was set up; it began to operate in 1996 and has from then on been a co-publisher of the Annales Journal. After the first three numbers of Annales, they were divided into two series: Series Historia Naturalis and Series Historia et Sociologia.
Programme / Mission
The basic aim of the journal is to publish scientific historical and social works (mainly dealing with multicultural and multiethnic relations) and natural science works (primarily dealing with nature conservation, ecology and biology). It covers the regional territory of three countries of the northern Adriatic region - Slovenia, Italy and Croatia. Mainly multi- and interdisciplinary comparative studies are contributed to by international experts and some themes are continuously tackled. Annales features regular contributions from the Historical Society of Southern Primorska, Koper and co-operates with many other journals. Its papers are published in several languages. Annales has also organised several symposia (with proceedings published in Acta Histriae). (two issues of historia naturalis series and two issues from historia et sociologia series) (until 1994 its subtitle was Annals of the Koper Littoral and Neighbouring Regions)
