Dance artist Branko Potočan of Ljubljana Dance Theatre (PTL) and Ultima Vez founded the physical theatre group Fourklor in 1995. At first performances were co-created by Potočan, Sebastjan Starič and Dušan Teropšič and distinguished by motives from Potočan's mining hometown Hrastnik. The company's debut was Who Drew a Ski Jump for Mr Stanko (1994), which was also performed in Prague, Hamburg and Leipzig. Its next performance, Do I Dream the Memory or Do I Remember the Dream (1996), received an award at Novi Sad Infant Festival, while The Melancholic Thoughts (1998) received a jury prize at the Sarajevo MESS. Eight more performances have followed, all characterised by detailed choreography with humorous details, skilful use of stage props and smooth natural movement passages. Fourklor performances, as well as Branko Potočan's solo projects (eg Pedestrian Zone), are produced by Vitkar Institute, a private cultural NGO.
Potočan often collaborates as a dancer or movement adviser with the physical theatre group Betontanc.
