Since 2003 the Trimo Architectural Awards are granted every two years for the best architectural solutions that use the Trimo products in a creative and innovative way. The awards for the most innovative and unconventional aplications are assigned to the projects in two categories – The Complete Architectural Solution and Special Awards for the Innovative Use of Trimo Products.

The purpose of the contest is to encourage architects and designers for innovative and different thinking in planning, use, and implementation of Trimo products in all sorts of projects, and thus influence the development of the technical field.


In 2009 114 works from 14 countries entered the competition. The Complete Architectural Solution awards were bestowed to Kaj Bøgh Jensen and Morten Degner Dahl for the JYSK Distribution Centre Uldum (DK); Slavojka Akrapovič, Robert Zakrajšek and Damjan Holc for the Foundry and Testing Room Akrapovič (SI); and Ramón Escolano for the EADS – Airbus Sevilla A400M (ES). The 2009 Special Awards for the Innovative Use of Trimo Products were granted to Aleksandru Vuja, Milan Đurić and Slađana Milivojević for the Terra Drinks Production Filling Facility (ES); Csaba Sárközi, József Fodróczy and Attila Bodrossy for the Production Building Coloplast (HU); Goran Todoroski, Dafina Trninik and Vanco Todoroski for the Terminal for Distribution of Cement (Republic of Kosovo); Murat Tabanlioglu, Melkan Gursel Tabanlioglu for the Astana Arena (KZ); Tomasz Cisek and Paweł Michalski fo the Tire Factory Bridgestone Stargard (PL); and Grzegorz Czerwiński, Andrzej Stachowski and Piotr Chlebowski for the Shopping Centre CWW Lubin (PL). The 2009 award ceremony took place at the Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station.

Background

Trimo is a leading European company in the field of fire resistant roof panels and the manufacture of steel constructions both in Slovenia and abroad. A constant, dedicated search for new ideas enables the company to develop the most technologically advanced solutions. Besides the Trimo Architectural Awards, several other awards are bestowed for innovative approaches, including the Trimo Urban Crash Award.

Recent editions

In 2003, the contest was entered by 32 candidates from 13 countries; in 2005, 77 entries from 18 countries were registered; and in 2007, the number grew to 79 entries from 21 countries.

The 2007 Trimo Architectural Awards for Complete Architectural Solution were granted to Frank Herbert, Jean-Daniel Pasquettaz and Martin Jaques for the Technical College (CH); Milan Djurić and Aleksandru Vuja for the Logistic Centre Milšped (RS); and Peter Farmer, Jeff McFadyen and John Galvin for the Gerber Soft Drinks Ltd Production Facility (UK). Special awards for the Innovative Use of Trimo Products went to Karin Luggin-Erol for the Fa. Wolfram, Industrial Building BW 100 (AT); Barbara Brinovčar for the Shopping Centre Mercator Pobrežje (SI); Matjaž Gril and Klavdij Kikelj for the Business and Commercial Centre Tuš (SI); Lucas Pérez Monsalvo and Marcelo Minoliti for the Zvartnots International Airport New Passenger Terminal (AM); Aleš Prinčič, Tomaž Jelovšek and Rebeka Bučinel for the Industrial Complex Trimo (SI); and Gregor Reichenberg, Bogdan Reichenberg and Sašo Rek for the Leykam Printing House (SI).
