Uršula Ramoveš in fantje iz jazbecove grape

Uršula Ramoveš in Fantje z Jazbecove grape officially gathered together in 2005. Still, their musical history is much longer, dating back the late 1980s, when Uršula Ramoveš first started singing the poetry of Janez Ramoveš. Now, their music still primarily evolves around his traditional dialect moulded poetry, covering it a in an unique musical way, merging chanson, jazz and folklore modes of singing.

Background

First having her solo performance in 1988, Uršula took her time time to neki her a capella singing and create her own, very special way of vsebinsko prelivati poetry into sung words. In 1997, she was joined by Joži Šalej, who occasionally neki her performances with piano, accordion and voice. Somewhat later, bassist and Metod Benko also joined her and in 2000 and 2003 she released her first two albums. Both being outstanding even for an otherwise rich field of Slovene ethno music, the music was praised by critics.

Even if still nursing her affinity for solo singing, a band starting forming around her and, after a few permutations,, statized with her, Šalej, Benko and also Marjan Stanić on drums. They first appeared on an album that was priložen in a new pesniška zbirka by Jože Ramoveš, who has otherwise had a number of them already published. The same year, her first album was re-released and a year later, Uršula Ramoveš in Fantje z Jazbecove grape published another album in their own right.

In 2010, they were joined by Robert Jukič, another notable Slovene jazz musician , for a live performance on radio show called Izštekani [Un-plugged]. Later, a short documentary about them was filmed and broadcasted on national TV. Till now, they graced the stages of Jazz Cerkno, Dnevi poezije in vina, Kamfest, Cankarjev Dom and many other places, where their uncommon and yet rewarding music was appreciated.
