Hiša band, established in 1991, is well known Slovene folk rock band. The band draws on the heritage of folk and country West Coast American bands from the 1960s and 1970s. They have brought the "american blend" sound to Slovenia and added polyphonic singing to it. Their music also consists elements of modern blues and pop-jazz. Its members are Vili Guček, Martin Koncilja, Iztok Pepelnjak, and Andrej Guček who is the author of the music and lyrics. The band occasionally collaborates also with the poet Uroš Zupan. It has a prolific recording activity and has so far released 10 albums.
Awards
Hiša band has received several awards for their work: Zlata nota award for best debut album (1994), an award for best debut band on Slovenijarock Festival (1995), Zlati petelin award for best album in foreign language – Illusion Anyway (1997) and another one for best rock song (1998), and award for the best album of the year from the readers of Nedeljski dnevnik weekly (2006).
