13brat.net

Launched in 2011, 13brat.net is a music webzine in Slovenian, which mainly revolves around the hardcore music scene. It is a digital continuation of a printed fanzine 13. brat [13th Brother] that was distributed in the 1990s. In this webzine you can find everything from fresh news about the punk rock, hardcore and metal world, concert dates in Slovenia and nearby, album and concert reports, interviews with musicians, festival organisers and record label owners, to essays that touch upon music and today's society. An interesting section named "the local scene" covers past and current bands from the Goriška region.

Background

The first generation of Gorica skateboarders, who were active from the beginning of 1990s, named themselves "13. brat". They organised events in the club CRMK in Šempeter near Nova Gorica. From 1993 to 2000 the members who were a part of the hardcore music scene started publishing a self-named fanzine, 13. brat. There were only eight numbers published, but until this day it is believed to be one of the most influential, if not the most influential Slovene hardcore fanzines. Through this fanzine and mailing list a Slovene hardcore community was formed, for the Internet was not a part of every household back then.

The 13. brat collective was also active in playing in different bands and organising concerts, especially in the Slovene hardcore Mecca, Club Jutro ("morning") in Ajdovščina. The record label Choose Life evolved from the 13. brat collective, which later altered into Moonlee Records. In 1998 Klub 13. brat (Club 13. brat), a co-founder of Zavod Masovna was established. In Mostovna Cultural Centre they organised the open air hardcore punk festival City of ... and still organise a couple of concerts here and there.
