Established in January 2001 by Ljubljana Urban Municipality, the Ljubljana Regional Development Agency functions to connect the 25 municipalities of the Slovene central region into a harmonious whole and to develop this into a recognisable entity. The main activities of the Agency are include the development of relationships between the public and private sector at local, regional, national and international level with the purpose of facilitating development initiatives and enhancing coherent regional development, accelerating the process of integral regional development, planning and implementing regional and other development programmes, and acquiring Slovene and foreign sources of financing.
The Regional Development Programme 2007-2011 is currently being developed. At recent workshops on the development of culture in the region a number of projects were discussed, including the setting up a Regional Information Point on Culture, the preservation of regional culture in connection with the employment policy, educational programmes in culture market development and funding opportunities and applications.
The Agency strives to become an internationally-acclaimed and competitive development agency which successfully contributes to development.
