Ljubljana Fine Artists Society was established in 1945, with Božidar Jakac as its first President. Today it is one of eight Slovene regional fine artists associations (also see the Maribor Visual Artists' Association and Insula-Obala Visual Artists Association) which co-operate with the Union of Slovene Fine Arts Associations (ZDSLU).

Ljubljana Fine Artists Society has around 400 members, all of them professional artists living and working in Ljubljana and South Eastern Slovenia. The society runs an exhibition programme at various sites in the city of Ljubljana, including the Union of Slovene Fine Arts Associations (ZDSLU) Gallery, the Pentagonal Tower at Ljubljana Castle, the Garden at Komenskega 8, and Art.si Gallery.
