Officially established in 2005, the activities of the Art Stays Cultural Association (Ptuj, Kidričevo) root in the ambitions of young representatives of the local art scene putting Ptuj, one of the most impressive Slovene towns of the medieval, but also roman heritage, on the international map of contemporary arts by inviting protagonists of the art world from abroad and other parts of Slovenia. The first activities of the Art Stays realized before the official establishing of the association were featured in the ex-Tenzor Gallery and ex-FO.VI Gallery in Ptuj. Since 2003 the Association also regularly organises the summer festival in Ptuj, today named Art Stays, International Festival of Contemporary Art.
Programme
Beside the festival the Association today regularly organises exhibitions of local, national and international artists in its own space (FO.VI Gallery, Kidričevo) and cooperates with galleries around the Europe as in 2010 with the T40 Gallery from Düsseldorf (Germany) where it featured works of BridA, Dušan Fišer, Jernej Forbici and Marika Vicari. It manages also its own artist in residence programme that among other cooperates with the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice). Art Stays Cultural Association visits international art fairs as well.
