Since 2010 the non-hierarchical initiative Lesbian Feminist University (LFU) has functioned as a platform for lesbians and women interested in feminist, anti-capitalist, and antifascist issues to pursue theoretical, educational, and artistic practises. The moniker "university" is to be understood ironically, as the initiative fosters bottom-up decision-making and active participation. Their women-only events are organised throughout the year and take place at Klub Tiffany at the Metelkova mesto Autonomous Cultural Zone, which is managed by ŠKUC Association. Events are published on the LFU blog along with lists of the materials covered and video lectures.

Programme and events

The initiative organises literary and lesbian cinema events, study reading clubs, discussions, music evenings, workshops, and exhibitions. During the 12th International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns in 2011, LFU presented two seminal texts, a LGBTQ dictionary and a bibliography of lesbian, feminist, and women studies texts. Apokalipsa Association and members of LFU also launched Gender Apokalipsa, the only Slovene feminist literary publication devoted to poetry, fiction, and literary theory, in particular Écriture féminine or a feminine mode of writing.
