The RTV Slovenia Youth Choir was established in 1957 on the initiative of Janez Bitenc. At first it was led by Janez Kuhar, since 2002 its conductor has been Anka Jazbec. Among several regular performances and concerts in the last few years the choir also cooperated with opera singers. In 2008 they participated in Mussorgsky's opera Boris Godunov with opera singers from Teater Bolšoj. In 2015 as part of the Ljubljana Festival, they have performed with the Chinese National Opera from Beijing in an opera by Giacomo Puccini Turandot. The choir has also participated in several national celebrations and TV shows (Zajček Bine, Lepo je biti Mozart, Čudežno drevo) and have recorded many old and new songs for children released on CDs (Mavrica, Violinček 1, 2 and 3, Otroška glasba, Pisani svet glasbe and Ribič Pepe.)
Over the years the choir has won a few important awards. The two most important accolades have been the Golden Prize on the national children and youth choir competition in Zagorje (organised by the Public Fund for Cultural Activities and the First Prize in the international competition in Neerpelt, Belgium.
