The Slovenian Clarinet Quartet was established in 1994 with the intention of enriching the Slovene contemporary music scene as works were commissioned for the ensemble. The quartet performs a varied repertoire of musical genres ranging from contemporary and classical music to jazz and folk music. The ensemble performs in Slovenia and other countries throughout the EU. The ensemble is led by clarinettist Andrej Zupan who has performed with many orchestras and ensembles including the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. In addition to conducting the Wind Orchestra Cerkno, Mandolin Orchestra Ljubljana, the Wind Orchestra of the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory, Zupan is involved with the Summer Music Programme at Podsreda Castle.

Between 1995 and 2006, the Slovenian Clarinet Quartet issued 5 CD recordings, on labels such as Gallus Carniolus and Prepih, as well as 2 self-published recordings.
