The Domžale Chamber Choir was established in 1987 and since 2007 it has been led by Fernando Mejias. The choir has performed together with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, and other choirs (including the RTV Chamber Choir, the Academic Choir Tone Tomšič, the Consortium Musicum Ljubljana, Carmina Slovenica, and the Ljubljana Madrigalists Chamber Choir), both in Slovenia and abroad.

Programme

Under the leadership of its first conductor Tomaž Pintar, the choir has a complex repertoire which in recent years has included Verdi's Requiem, Mahler's Symphony No 8, Mozart's Requiem, Samo Vremšak's Stabat Mater, and Alojz Srebotnjak's Škofjeloški pasijon.

International awards

Their most recent international successes are two silver medals on festival Musica Sacra in Bratislava (2009) for categories of mixed choirs and contemporary music and second prize on the 7th International Choral Competition in Zadar (HR) in 2010, where they also received two special awards: Srebrni križić opatice Čike and an award for the best performance of music piece of Croatian composer.
