Founded in 1997, DIC (Dijaški dom Ivana Cankarja) Gallery is based at the Ivan Cankar Boarding School in Ljubljana and runs numerous cultural activities. One of its strengths is its fine arts workshops. Professional tutors work with young talents and the works are presented in the Small Gallery and the DIC Gallery. The most talented pupils participate in workshops and in the Transgenerations Festival of Youth Creativity. DIC Gallery's permanent collection was founded at the same time as the gallery. It comprises art works donated by 40 artists, mostly eminent Slovene painters who were involved with DIC when they were young, including Lucijan Bratuš, Sandi Červek, Dušan Fišer, Črtomir Frelih, Stane Jagodič, Danilo Jejčič and Aleksij Kobal. By 2004 around 20 exhibitions had taken place at the gallery, making it one of the important venues in Ljubljana.
