Libris Bookstore in Piran-Pirano was opened in 1997 and the Antiquariat Libris in Koper-Capodistria in 2000. The latter is located not far from the main Libris Koper bookstore, which also functions as a venue for various events. In 2004 a new bookstore was opened in Izola-Isola old town.
A special task of the Libris bookstores is to promote the literature of the Slovene Istria region. The bookstores offer more than 25.000 book titles (available also online), comprising mostly non-commercial literature and humanities books, while the antiquarian bookstore has more than 1,000 items. In collaboration with University of Primorska and other educational institutions, it offers also books for youth and students.
Libris recently received the Schwentner Award for its activities.
