Slovene Musicological Society was established in 1992. It is the only professional Slovene association which unites all musicologists and professional musicians. It comprises four sections: the ethnomusicological section, section for the theory of music, section for the history of the Slovene music and student's section. The so far presidents of the Society were Andrej Rijavec, Jurij Snoj, Primož Kuret and Matjaž Barbo. The honorary members of the Society are Dragotin Cvetko, Andrej Rijavec and Marija Bergamo.


Mission and activities

The main goal of the Society is to actively participate in the work of different musicological and musical institutions. Society prepares scientific conferences, the lectures of home and foreign musicologists, educational modules and public debates. It bestows also the Mantuani Award. The Society cooperates with similar associations from Europe.

Publications

Society work also as a publishing house. Its series is called Varia Musicologica and comprises of six titles. Society publishes also its own bulletin.
