Contra Gallery is one of the smaller Koper galleries, operating since 1998; however, since 2002 it has run a remarkable programme featuring carefully-selected Slovene artists, eg painter Zoran Mušič, sculptor Matjaž Počivavšek, the Irwin group, Vadim Fiškin and Miha Štrukelj, and also international artists, eg Klaus Karl Mehrkens, a representative of the second generation of German neo-expressionism, Italian author Marc Biagini, Spanish sculptors who engage in photography and other media: Cristina Iglesias, Nacho Criado, Ricardo Cadenas, Gonzalo Puch, Fernando Sinaga and Gerhard Richter.
