New categories (suggestions)
Academia
to establish the ontology to build useful lists:
- Academic institutions
- institutes
- universities, academies
- tertiary education
- postgraduate education
- publishing activities?
- summer schools, courses (cf. Summer School Bovec)
- web resources?
- scholarships
- resources for students
- I think that Academia is a good option, thus covering "The academic community; academe." Maybe somewhere we could speak of a category: Scholarly activities or Scholarly resources? --Jana Wilcoxen 13:14, 7 October 2011 (CEST)
Music shops
As with the bookshops. We have Jazz & Blues Records. They are so rare, they might deserve their own listing.
Workshop & rehearsal spaces
Was just doing some research for a friend looking for a space to organise a workshop and realised that our site is missing some important categories: workshop spaces, rehearsal spaces, and other rental spaces. I tried to piece together something from the categories, Theatre Venues, Dance Venues, Exhibition Venues, Visual Arts Venues, but these do not provide the exact same information.
For example, under dance rehearsal spaces we could put the following organisations which rent out their spaces for dance rehearsal activities:
- Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station
- Maska Institute (rehearsal space in Šentvid)
- Ljubljana Dance Theatre (PTL)
- En-Knap Productions
- Pekarna Cultural Centre
- Plesna izba - Maribor Dance Room
(I wouldn't necessarily put Cankarjev dom under this category, because it seems that priority is given those on their program, that they don't rent outside the house or outside collaborators, don't know.)
Theatre rehearsal spaces could be similar, but they can be a bigger pool, since again, spaces that include big columns or strange floors can also suffice:
- Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station
- Maska Institute (rehearsal space in Šentvid)
- Ljubljana Dance Theatre (PTL)
- En-Knap Productions
- Glej Theatre
- Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture
For workshop spaces, it could be a similar set but maybe expanded a bit to include spaces which do not have a dance floor and have more just a space suitable for various pedagogical activities. Then again, this category might have to be broken down into different types of workshops according to the discipline/activity. For example, some libraries could be included in Workshop spaces because it is possible to arrange certain types of workshops in them.

Corporate involvement in the arts
Creative industries
There seems to be a category emerging for "collaborations between art and industry", "entrepreneurial innovations", or something of that sort. Slightly related to this is something akin to "corporate philanthropy" or "corporate patronage".
Here are the articles that made me think of industry-driven artistic projects. These are not merely awards, but a specific type of award given for innovation using particular products.
Sponsorship, philanthropy
The second category, philanthropy/patronage would somehow be a combination of the above category with the Category:Visual arts private collections as well as possibly any companies on the portal who are big sponsors of the arts.

Cultural policy
- sindikati, civilna družba
- ministrstva
- overview article
The aim should be to get the agents/players in one list. How to learn about the cp or join in. --Admin 10:06, 9 December 2010 (CET)
Slovenes abroad / Slovene migration
- organisations
- publications
- language instruction or language oriented organisations
- websites
- Slovene embassies and consulates abroad
npr:
- Slovene Emigrant Association
- Moja Slovenija Magazine
- Government Office for Slovenians Abroad
- Slovenci.si
- Two Homelands Journal
- Slovenian Migration Institute
Category:Slovene embassies and consulates --Jana Wilcoxen 17:29, 12 December 2010 (CET)
- Another interesting related article: Louis Adamič Memorial Room. Apparently, he was really influential in sparking the "ethnic" movement in America. Don't know if true, but he seems to be a hero among Slovene emigrants.
Cultural diversity
Exists but has no life yet.
Silent film
Proposing a category related to silent film activities (groups who play for them, festivals which screen them, etc.) Miha Zadnikar would be good resource here.
Who to include:

Birthplaces / Memorial Rooms / Homesteads
- Curiously, there is no subcategory for these types of locations. They are sometimes under Monuments and Sites, sometimes under Museums, or both.
- for example (inconclusive list):
BIRTHPLACES
HOMESTEADS
MEMORIAL ROOMS
- A related category would be something that points to places named after or dedicated to famous Slovenians. This information is latently contained in the portal, but perhaps a more direct way of classifying it would help researchers. Perhaps a subcategory of Heritage? Just a thought?

War - all WWI and WWII monuments listed separately- Archaeology of the Roman Provinces -- or something similar -- Roman archaeological findings in Slovenia??

Digital libraries
- I know we have the category "Library web resources", but perhaps it is necessary to rethink this, either in name only or in scope. A reader looking for "Digital libraries" might overlook this option in the list. How to best resolve that? And perhaps it is necessary to make a distinction between web resources, i.e., databases, portals, etc., and digital libraries, i.e., Dlib.si and others that display content in a library-type format. --Jana Wilcoxen 13:15, 12 February 2011 (CET)
