Kabinet 01
Selected work
In 2009 the Kabinet 01 made a redesign of the Oktober fashion studio brand identity, web site, and other visual applications to best suit the new made–to–measure line Oktober Sartoriale. The previous work for Oktober resulted in many awards. In 2009 the new identity of the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia (ZAPS) was also conceived.
One of the major contributions of the studio is a range of design for the Slovenian footwear producer Alpina. Product graphics for a series of racing shoes was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2008. In 2009 the studio created the product graphic and styling for an entire winter collection of Alpine and cross-country ski boots. In addition they also designed a product catalogue, and a stand at the world's biggest sports fair, Munich's ISPO.
Publication design includes the 9+1 book of interiors designed by architect Primož Jeza; a series of product catalogues for Lara Bohinc jewellery; Lightwear, a catalogue accompanying the exhibition of the Arcadia lighting objects that took place at the Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station in 2006; and the design of the lifestyle magazine Flash.
In 2018, the studio was chosen to rebrand Hemptouch, which is a young and independent CBD oil and skin care brand, specialised in making all-natural hemp-based cosmetics. Kabinet01's goal was to design an identity and accompanying packaging that communicates the organic nature of the products yet observes a precise, clinically-tested standards – one that goes (well) beyond the usual hemp-related aesthetic that often seeks to appear alternative, esoteric and largely decorative.
In 2019, the studio was responsible for logo, identity/exhibition catalogue/exhibition design & co-realisation for We're Open!, which is an initiative of Centre for Creativity dedicated to showcasing an assemblage of some of the best designs coming out of Slovenia. The exhibition – first shown at Milan Design Week 2019 – and accompanying catalogues draw inspiration from the language and culture of sales and marketing, advertising, consumerism, shops and shopping, co-working and collaboration. Kabinet01 employed visuals intended to highlight and often exaggerate a design’s particular qualities and character; here we’re less interested in faithful representation (obviously) than we are in the interpretive, the positive and the fanciful.
