MUZA Museum and Gallery consists of two important collections which are the property of the bank Nova Ljubljanska Banka and were proclaimed as a national treasure of the Republic of Slovenia in 2018. The gallery section of MUZA contains a representative art collection of works by Slovenian artists of the 20th and 21st century, while the unique museum collection consists of objects, documents and materials related to money, banking and banking practices. Both collections are preserved and presented to the public in the center of Ljubljana, in the Ljubljana City Savings Bank building, built in 1905 in Historicist and Art Nouveau style. They are often complemented by contemporary exhibitions, lectures and other educational events.

MUZA Gallery

The MUZA gallery hosts the NLB Art collection, one of the largest private collections of modern and contemporary art in the region. Established in 1999, the collection is dedicated to presenting a representative overview of the Slovenian fine art of the 20th and 21st century while at the same time maintaining an active attitude towards contemporary art production. In the first decade, the collection developed under the guidance of the art historian Stane Bernik. Today, the development of the collection is assisted by an internationally acclaimed advisory body, consisting of prominent experts in the field of contemporary art from South-Eastern European countries.

Slovenian Banking Museum

The Slovenian Banking Museum, founded by NLB bank in 2021, is dedicated to preserving and presenting banking heritage, particularly the Slovenian banking heritage from 1820 to the present day. Through various artefacts including protocol and jubilee documents, books and albums, account reports, savings booklets, ledgers, interest rate tables, forms, and piggybanks, visitors can learn about the history of Slovenian banking and all the different currencies that were in use in the territory of present-time Slovenia. Another prominent part of the museum is the “financial labyrinth”: an interactive experience that tests the visitors’ financial literacy. The museum collections are complemented by guided tours and financial workshops for both young and adult audiences.
