RISA Institute was founded in 2011. Its main focus is the development and publishing of books in Easy Language (Easy-to-Read books), as well as other accessible materials that support the social inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other people with cognitive access needs. In addition to publishing its own titles in Easy Language, the institute publishes the newspaper 20 minut ("20 minutes", published every two months) and operates the online platform Lahko je brati (It is easy to read). RISA Institute also provides training and consultancy in Easy Language and cognitive accessibility, including user involvement (like self-advocacy and validation of Easy Language texts), accessibility planning, and related community-based support services that promote social inclusion and independent living.
