Nika Urbas studied Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. Up to 1999 she designed collections for Slovene textile companies and was twice finalist in the Smirnoff International Fashion Awards. She also worked for several magazines as a stylist and illustrator. In 2003 she presented her first Urbas collection of exclusive clothes, and in 2004 she was selected as a 'Rising Star' in Slovene fashion design in the British Council Slovenia project 'Crossroad of Ideas'.
