With its guiding principle being Sense and Sensuality, an ideal that highlights the simplicity of form and coexistence with natural environments and cultural heritage, MultiPlan Architects was founded in 1999 by Aleš Žnidaršič and Katja Žlajpah. A number of the studio's projects have been built in spectacular natural surroundings, and a deep sense of the role of nature in architecture and design informs their work.

Projects

MultiPlan Architects' recent projects include the Rowing Centre at Bled (2010) and the Katarina House, a sumptuous residential project located in the wooded hills at Topol outside Ljubljana (2013). The Balcony Apartments, an apartment complex in Ljubljana (2014), challenged the studio to bring their appreciation for the quality of life as a key project metric to urban social housing. The second iteration of the Balcony Apartments, completed in 2016, received the Golden Pencil Award in 2016 and was nominated for the prestigious Mies Van Der Rohe Award.

Background

Aleš Žnidaršič obtained a BA from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana in 1997 and subsequently acquired working practice at the Christos Papoulias' architectural firm in Athens and with Yves Lion in Paris.
