Collections
The collection of medieval manuscripts comprises 122 items, the most valuable among which are: Augustinus: De civitate Dei (1347), the finest illuminated Slovene medieval codex, and the Stična Manuscript (1428), a Slovene medieval texts of immense cultural importance. The Early Printed Collection consists of early examples of printed books and other rare prints, such as 16th-century Protestant books and rare copies of old Slovenian texts. The collection also holds early modern manuscripts, private papers, autographs and manuscript legacies of renowned Slovene authors from classics like France Prešeren and Ivan Cankar to contemporary authors such as Vitomil Zupan, Janez Menart, and Ivan Volarič Feo.
Accessibility
Information on the manuscript collection is available in the NUK manuscript card catalogue, the printed edition of the manuscript collection catalogue, or in the online NUK manuscript lists. Some of the national manuscript collection material is also available on DLib.si - Digital Library of Slovenia. The visit to the reading room is limited to the members of the National and University Library.
