The first library association in the Carinthian region was established within the Slovene Library Association in 1959; it has organised activities under its present name since 1991. Current membership stands at 51, including 32 librarians from the public libraries, 10 librarians from school libraries, one librarian from a specialised library, seven senior librarians and one student. The Association is a voluntary organisation, its aim being to stimulate discussion and the exchange of experience. An excursion to other libraries in Slovenia is organised annually for its members.

The Association is a member of the Union of Associations of Slovene Librarians.
