The Library
The library's funds encompass 33,179 catalogued volumes, of which around 600 are serial publications. The library provides professional support to the activities of the National Gallery of Slovenia. A large portion of yearly additions is made up of publication exchanges with numerous museum establishments at home and abroad. The hemeroteque has been a part of the library since its foundation. It contains press clippings related to the contents and activities of the National Gallery, older art and architecture heritage, and cultural policies that are in one way or another connected to museum/gallery activities and preservation of art heritage.
- Availability of library materials
Library material is available to public in the Reading Room. Material cannot be loaned and taken home. Newly acquired material from 1998 to 2002 has been processed by means of the INFOLIT program, whereas since 2003 the library works actively in the framework of the COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library. Older literature has not yet been fully processed.
Photo library
In January 2009 consisted hthe photo library of the collection of negatives of 24.660 items, the collection of transparencies of 28.558 items, the collection of photographs and slides of 14.724 items and the digital archive of 26.526 items.
- Availability of photo library materials
To make use of its material a written request must be submitted to the management of Narodna galerija. The borrowing of the photo material of the works of art owned by the institution must comply with the internal General Conditions for Loan and Hire of Photographic Documents; a fee is charged in accordance with the internal Price list of the material copyrights.
