Much of Ptuj’s cultural heritage is preserved in Ptuj Regional Museum and its branches and in the state funded Historical Archives of Ptuj. The private Minorite St Petrus and Paulus Monastery Archives and Library, Ptuj is another important cultural institution in the town.
tuj has 14 active cultural associations, which co-organise traditional annual events such as Katarina's Fair (November), Kurentovanje Masquerade (February), the Ptuj Festival of Folk Music (Summer), the Cultural Marathon (Summer), Ptuj Summer Nights (Summer) and numerous amateur theatrical and amateur choral meetings.
The local branches of the Union of Cultural Societies of Slovenia (ZKDS) and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia facilitate the activities of local cultural organisations and act as mediators in respect of state and municipal funding.
