Since 1982 the Festival (firstly called Brežice festival) has developed into an eminent European music event, with a significant educational dimension (working with music academies) and international scope (partner countries since 2002 were, as follows: Italy, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, European Union, France, Italy, and Spain). The concerts take place at numerous castles, in churches or museums, promoting Slovene cultural heritage. Today the festival consists of several interrelated smaller festivals spreading all over Southern Slovenia: Festival Brežice, Klasikaa Dolenjska, Klasikaa Postojna, Klasikaa Slovenija, and Voci dal ghetto (Trieste). Festival programme is available on their website. Ars Ramovš has succeeded to draw funding from both national and municipial funds as well as from numerous sponsors, donators and also Culture 2000 funds. |
