After the design studies at the [[Department of Design, Academy of Fine Arts and Design|Academy of Fine Arts and Design]] in Ljubljana, he briefly collaborated with the [[Novi kolektivizem (NK)|Novi kolektivizem]] design department of the [[Neue Slowenische Kunst - NSK State|Neue Slowenische Kunst]] collective. In 1995–2008 he worked in [[LUKSstudio]] which he established together with [[Lena Pislak]].

Among its clients are Seaway, Ministry of Culture (the Culture.si portal), Hospic Association, Emzin Institute of Creative Production, and DrugArt. In 2009 the studio also designed Michael Benson's book Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle.

Boris Balant studied art history and ran Škuc Gallery from 1986 to 1987. After the design studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, he briefly collaborated with the design department Novi kolektivizem of the collective Neue Slowenische Kunst. From 1995–2008 he worked in LUKSstudio which he established together with Lena Pislak.
