RogLab was set up as a production, educational, presentation, and social space in October 2012, in a 30 m²‑container object next to the former Rog factory. The RogLab programme is carried out by a partnership network of ciltural, researcs and educational institutions, as well as non-govermental and private companies.
Background
In 2010 Municipality of Ljubljana joined the Central European project Second Chance in which it takes the transformation of the former Rog factory as a case study, compared to Nuremberg (former AEG factory), Leipzig (HALLE 14 of the former Cotton Spinning Mill), Venice (the Arsenale), and Krakow (the tram depot in the St. Lawrence district). The project aims at developing innovative strategies and concepts to upgrade the former industrial site to a key cultural hub in the city, the Rog Centre for architecture, design and contemporary art.
