Established in 1992 with financial support from the MEDIA programme of the European Union and the Centre National de la Cinématographie in France, Europa Cinemas is a cinemas network which focuses mainly on European film programming. The network provides financial support to cinemas that commit themselves to the programming of a significant number of non-domestic European films and to the organisation of promotional activities concerning European films for young audiences. Eurimages and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs contributed financial support to enable Europa Cinemas to extend its activities to Eastern European countries, and thanks to the support of Euromed Audiovisuel of the European Union, the network has also been set up in 12 Mediterranean countries, offering support in promotion and distribution as well as in the exhibition of European and Mediterranean films.
Member cinemas in Slovenia include Kinodvor Cinema, Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre in Ljubljana, Art kino Metropol Celje and Kino Odeon Izola.
