Activities
The society encourages collaboration between historians and others interested in history. With a view to popularising historical investigations and findings, it organises conferences and public lectures. As a regional organisation, it offers educational activities and assistance with research projects to its members and promotes the research of Slovene history, particularly the history of Celje and its surrounding areas.
Cooperation
The society strives to facilitate innovative scholarly endeavours in the theory of history and sociology, collaborates with teachers of history, and provides assistance in teaching history and other related subjects. It plays an active and vital role in collecting, preserving, and promoting cultural heritage by publishing educational materials.
It cooperates with the Historical Association of Slovenia and other affiliated associations in Slovenia and the region, namely the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana, the Historical Archives Celje, the Celje Museum of Recent History, and the Celje Regional Museum.
In 2003 the society founded the book series Zgodovini.ce, which enables younger-generation historians to publish works that examine the history of Celje or adhere to recent trends in the Slovene social sciences in their scholarly inquiries. Aiming to illuminate the value and significance of such works, the society hosts several book and journal presentations. So far, sixteen books have been published in the series.
