The Youth Club in Ilirska Bistrica, usually called MKNŽ (Mladinski klub Nade Žagar) was established in the 1960s. Up until the 1990s it was a venue for hard-core and garage rock'n'roll, hosting also groups like Laibach, Disciplina kičme and Partibrejkers. Today it offers a wide range of events in a venue which accommodates some 200 people.

Concerts at the MKNŽ at its prime featured Alboth! (Switzerland), Blood On The Saddle (USA), Helios Creed (USA), Tromatism (France), Hellcrusher (UK), The New Bomb Turks (USA), Teengenerate (Japan), Human Error (USA), Anarcrust (Nederland), Cement (USA), Hammerhead (USA), Mule (USA), Today Is The Day (USA), Jeff Dahl (USA), Dirt (UK), The Harries (Netherlands), God Bullies (USA), Cop Shoot Cop (USA), Distract Vibes (Netherlands), Verbal Assault (USA), DI (USA), Inferno (Germany), V-PUNK (Germany), The Pietasters (USA), Vandermark Five (USA) as well as many Slovene and ex-Yugoslav bands.

The MKNŽ is one of the club venues of the Club Marathon, organised annually by Radio Študent (RŠ).
